Typically they are between 500 and 1000 full charge and discharge cycles. A full cycle is counted when 100% of the charge is used up. It is therefore advisable to charge the battery before it is fully depleted.

It is always recommended not to drain the batteries completely as this can cause problems in the battery circuitry. Another very recurrent point is to leave the battery to charge for many hours. Normally we have the habit of leaving the batteries charging all night, now the batteries are prepared not to overcharge and when they reach the point of maximum charge cut off the power, so that the batteries do not suffer.

It was also previously recommended to let the batteries charge for many hours during the first recharge, but this is no longer necessary.

Storage

With regard to storage, it is always recommended to store batteries in a cool and dry place. And if possible with some charge. The recommended charge percentage is 40% to keep them in optimum condition and unused for long periods of time.

Use the manufacturer's charger

We know there is a temptation to use any charger, or to connect the camera directly to the USB port of your computer, but don't make this mistake. Each battery is designed to work with its own charger, as each one works with a specific power. So using the original chargers will ensure optimal recharging, and take care of the condition of the battery.

If you have more than one, swap them

It is normal to have more than one because if we have to cover long sessions, we cannot be exposed to the risk of running out of battery. If we always tend to use the same one, it is advisable to alternate them. If we never use one of them, it may eventually break down.

Keep in mind that you should store the one you don't use properly, and that if you never use the battery it will discharge. The best option is to use both alternately, and recharge them when required. This ensures the health of both batteries.
