Common questions about sensor cleaning
We answer the main questions we receive about this preventive maintenance service.
How long does a sensor cleaning take?
In our physical workshop in Elche we carry out the sensor cleaning on the spot, Normally within 1 hour. If you entrust your camera to us by mail or courier, we usually dispatch it within 24 business hours of it arriving at our workshop.
Do I need to make an appointment to have my camera cleaned?
No appointment is necessary. You can come during our business hours. We only kindly ask that you come with the fully charged battery.
Do you clean all types of brands and systems (Reflex / Mirrorless / Medium Format)?
Yes, the architecture of the sensors and their protective filters are similar (although the size and mounting differ). We service systems from Sony, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Fujifilm, and more. We clean mirrorless systems, which by their nature require much more frequent maintenance because the sensor is always exposed, as well as more traditional SLR systems.
I have stains that won't come out. What if the dirt or mold is under the low-pass filter?
Our thorough cleaning treats the exposed surface of the sensor glass (the IR-Cut filter). If we diagnose that the camera has stains under the glass due to condensation, humidity, harmful internal oil, or mold, we will inform you immediately. This work requires disassembling the entire sensor module (and subsequently recalibrating it), which incurs its own separate and logical price.
Stop cloning blemishes in your edits
At DST we guarantee that we will leave the sensor as clean as you bought it and in record time, with all the care and reliability of an aseptic environment.
Specialists in photographic sensor cleaning nationwide
Any professional or advanced amateur knows that a camera sensor cleaning A faulty sensor can lead to a nightmare. A camera sensor is sealed by a Low Pass filter whose main layer is ultra-sensitive to dry micro-scratches. If the shutter picks up quartz or sand particles due to adverse wind conditions outdoors, simply trying to remove the dust ourselves with cotton swabs at home can have a disastrous effect, irreversibly scratching the glass in the exposure area, and in the worst-case scenario, requiring the replacement of the entire CMOS sensor assembly and its associated circuit board.
To prevent this, at DST Fotografía's central workshop, we extract dust and moisture, ensuring the precise application of neutral, volatile, and residue-free liquids. Our transparent pricing for cleaning mirrorless (EVIL) or DSLR cameras starts at just €40 for Micro Four Thirds or APS-C units from Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, or Olympus, and €50 for larger full-frame cameras such as the Sony Alpha family or the Canon EOS R series. In addition to this thorough care, always available without an appointment at our offices, we also offer express shipping via insured courier throughout the Iberian Peninsula, enabling thousands of photography professionals to continue entrusting the "visual heart" of their work tools to our lab every week.
