Wavelengths

Choose the infrared vision setting for your camera

Depending on the wavelength (nanometers) you choose, your camera will capture a different proportion of visible and infrared light. This will define the character and colors of your future photographs.

550

550nm (Extreme False Color)

It lets through a large amount of visible light along with infrared. It's perfect for creating surreal processing effects. False Color. With the right white balance and channel swapping in editing, you'll achieve intensely blue skies and vegetation that ranges from golden yellow to fiery red.

630

630nm (False Vivid Color)

A very popular intermediate setting. It slightly reduces the visible spectrum compared to 550nm, allowing for spectacular blue skies and foliage that tends towards soft whites, yellows, or magentas. It's a very versatile modification for creative photographers seeking a dreamlike aesthetic.

720

720nm (Infrared Standard)

The most popular option. It offers the perfect balance: it blocks almost all visible light, leaving only deep red. It produces the famous "Wood effect": dramatically dark skies and bright white vegetation. Ideal for high-contrast black and white, but still allows for some experimentation with false color.

850

850nm (Deep B/W)

It blocks absolutely all visible light. It only captures pure infrared. The resulting images have no color information, producing a Extreme and pure black and white From the very first shot. Almost black skies and stark white foliage. Ideal for dramatic landscape and architectural photographers.

The Pioneers in Spain

Professional infrared conversion

Modifying a camera isn't just about changing a lens. It's about altering the device's fundamental optics. We were pioneers 16 years ago and remain the only professional lab in Spain.

1. The problem with Autofocus (Focus Shift): The thickness and refractive index of the new infrared filter are different from the original. Simply replacing the glass will cause the light to focus on a different plane, disabling autofocus and infinity focus. At DST Photography, we perform a micrometric recalibration of the sensor to correct this optical deviation perfectly.

2. The Dust Problem: Opening the sensor block in a normal environment condemns the camera to having trapped dust particles for life. We have spent 16 years perfecting this process. We operate in a controlled environment, ensuring the cleanliness and proper sealing of the sensor.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Everything you need to know about your conversion

Will I still be able to use my camera for normal photography? By installing a dedicated infrared filter (550nm - 850nm) directly over the sensor, the camera becomes a tool exclusively for infrared photography. It will not capture "normal" true colors. Ideally, a second camera body should be used for this purpose.
What are Hotspots in objectives? When shooting in infrared, some lenses reveal a bright circle in the center of the image called hotspot, This is caused by the internal reflection of the lenses. Not all lenses are suitable for infrared. We will advise you on which lenses for your equipment are the most recommended.
Can I deliver my camera in person to the lab? Yes. Although we work with insured courier services throughout Europe, our optical laboratory is physically located in Elche (Alicante). You can bring your equipment to our facilities at Carrer Capità Gaspar Ortiz, 20, and speak directly with our technicians.
